Bobby Dean Parsons
Bobby Dean Parsons, 71, of Amarillo died Friday, July 24, 2009.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Arden Road Baptist Church with Dale Bigham officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Claude Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Mr. Parsons was born Aug. 19, 1937, in Hereford to E.J. and Hazel Parsons. He grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1958.

He married Leta Mae Savage on July 8, 1961, in Amarillo. They lived in Perryton for a while when he was working for DOW Chemical. He returned to Amarillo and worked as a trucker for Affiliated Foods for more than 36 years.

Bobby enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved classic cars. He was a big Dallas Cowboys fan and loved Westerns, especially those with John Wayne. He was an honest man with a great sense of humor.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild, and was excitedly awaiting the birth of his new great-grandson, Caedon Lane Simmons.

Survivors include his wife, Leta Mae; two daughters, Lisa Simmons and husband Joe and Joanna Savage, all of Amarillo; his mother, Hazel Parsons of Amarillo; a sister, Annette Carpenter and husband Bill of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Jerry Simmons and wife Kristina of Abilene and Jennifer Simmons, John Simmons and wife Cheryl and James Savage, all of Amarillo; a great-granddaughter, Tatum Simmons of Abilene; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
