Carol Owen Jokerst Whipple, 70, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 24, 2011.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Murray Gossett officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Mrs. Whipple was born and raised in Amarillo, where she lived her whole life. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1957, and also attended the University of Arizona.

She married Gordon Whipple on March 26, 1980, in Amarillo. He passed away in September 2000.

Mrs. Whipple was a nutrition consultant with Health Plus Nutrition Consultants for many years. She was involved with Girl Scouts while her two daughters were growing up.

She was an avid bridge player and loved to travel. She loved raising horses and cattle. She along with her husband and family operated Creekwood Ranch and The Creekwood Wild West Show. She was instrumental in establishing the WRCA (Working Ranch Cowboy Association) in Amarillo.

Mrs. Whipple loved her Lord and was a member of First Presbyterian Church for many years. She was very active in children's missions.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother.

Survivors include two daughters, Laura Shattuck and husband John of Amarillo and Katie Bramblett and husband Phillip of Grenville, N.M.; a stepson, Randy Whipple and wife Susan of Amarillo; and two grandsons, Ryan and Shane.
